The tradition of excellence continues
Worden Opticians is Tarporley’s original optical practice. Established in 1953 by Mr Francis Worden it soon became a thriving village practice with a reputation for clinical excellence and unparalleled customer service.
In 1964 the business was inherited by Francis’ son Mr Kenneth Worden who relocated the practice to larger consulting rooms and our current home at 42 High Street.
With a fascinating and varied history this beautiful 15th century building had at that time fallen into a state of very serious disrepair and it is only as a result of the meticulous restoration undertaken by Ken Worden that the village continues to enjoy one of its most remarkable buildings. Since 1965 the premises have served us wonderfully as a truly unique place from which to run a practice that has gone from strength to strength under family ownership and always with an eye to maintaining its original values.
In 2011 the Worden family passed the business to Mr Jonathan Davies, its resident optometrist for the last 12 years, who continues to take the practice forward whilst always preserving the very unique heritage of this independent, family owned practice.
